Architectural Conservation

By developing its use of traditional methods for modern markets its work on architectural conservation and heritage projects has played a major part in the development of Charles Laing & Sons' business.

Laing's foundry focuses on meeting the needs of customers who demand the specialist craft skills often no longer undertaken by larger foundries. The experience of Laing's highly skilled staff allows the foundry to create high quality one-offs to production requirements.

Traditional Skills

Laings believes it is the last jobbing foundry in Britain to use the traditional green sand process.Laing's youngest employee - 17 year old Frank Montgomery - is Scotland's only traditional green sand apprentice moulder. By retaining its traditional skills, Laing's demonstrates its confidence in future demand for quality iron and brass craftsmanship and foundry skills.
